The Stud Dog owner enters into this agreement with the intent to help the Bitch owner to produce healthy puppies which, in both type and temperament, will be good representatives of the Shiloh Shepherd™ breed. If that is not the ultimate goal of both breeders, this contract should not be fulfilled.

 Bitch Qualifications

1.        Bitch must have adult registration papers from the International Shiloh Shepherd™ Registry, and must be over 19 months of age (prior to conception).

2.        Bitch must be certified clear of Canine Hip Dysplasia by either OFA or Penn Hip radiographs or approved by the Breed Warden. Results should be shared with Stud owner.

3.        Bitch owner must have proof of Breed Warden approval needed for breeding.

4.        Bitch should have no disqualifying faults as per breed standard and must have breeding status from the Breed Warden.

5.        Bitch owner must provide brucellosis test results performed within 14 days of the expected breeding.

6.        Bitch owner certifies that said Bitch has not been exposed to any other Stud Dog from the start of her heat cycle, and is in good health.

 Stud Dog Qualifications, Guarantees, and Fees

1.        Stud Dog must have adult registration papers from the International Shiloh Shepherd™ Registry.

2.        Stud must be certified clear of Canine Hip Dysplasia by either OFA or Penn Hip radiographs or by approval from the Breed Warden.

3.        Stud owner certifies with test results that stud has acceptable sperm count levels. Individual sperm should be well-formed and motile.

4.        Stud owner certifies with test results (conducted after the last breeding) that said Stud is free of canine brucellosis and is in good health at the time of breeding or semen collection.

5.        Stud fees are based upon current championship points, titles (conformation and working), and progeny. The stud fee calculations are as follows:

·         Unproven Stud* - $1000

·         Proven Stud - $1500                                           (Proven – stud produces three litters of quality pups over one

·         Three-Star and/or Championship  - $2000          year of age, breeding/show or upgraded)

·         Four-Star and/or National Select - $2500

·         Five-Star and/or Grand Victor - $3000           (At this time, Stud fees should not exceed $4000.)

For every point attained toward championship, add $50 to unproven Stud fee, or $100 per point for proven Stud fee. (Unproven should not exceed $1500; Proven should not exceed $2000.)

6.        A stud fee, based upon the above scale, shall be paid in full prior to first mating or insemination by cash or certified check. Other payment arrangements must be made beforehand by breeder and Stud Dog owner, and must be carried out with the risk and full knowledge of both parties.

7.        The owner of the Stud Dog guarantees conception of one puppy. If puppies are not conceived, a second breeding will be provided.

8.        If, after second mating or insemination, the Bitch fails to conceive, Stud services will be offered once more, only after the Bitch has undergone complete reproductive examination and has had ovulation timing, and Stud has had sperm testing (if not done so already).

9.        The stud fee shall not be refunded or transferred, in whole or in part, for any reason, except as specifically provided within this contract.

 Natural Breedings

 Bitch Owner Responsibilities

1.        Bitch owner is responsible for transportation of Bitch to and from Stud Dog owner’s care.

2.        Special dietary needs must be reported to Stud owner and are the responsibility of Bitch owner (eq. supplements, food allergies, etc.)

3.        Bitch owner must have knowledge of Bitch’s heat cycle and ovulation for good timing between Bitch and Stud.

4.        Breeding between Bitch and Stud should be between five to seven days in length. After that period, responsibility of said Bitch reverts back to Bitch owner, unless previously agreed upon by breeders. If Stud owner cannot ship or transport said Bitch on previously agreed upon day, board fees incurred by Bitch will be Stud owner’s responsibility.

5.        Bitch owner must aware of the physical and nutritional needs a breeding Bitch MUST HAVE for healthy prenatal care and safe delivery of live puppies. If the Bitch owner is an inexperienced breeder, it is recommended that that she/he be in contact with more experienced breeders, or have a breeding mentor.

 Stud Dog Owner Responsibilities

1.        Stud owner must have transport for breeding Bitch from the Bitch owner’s care or airline counter.

2.        Stud owner must have safe, secure housing facilities (eq. concrete pad with 6ft. chain-link fence, topped with roof cover, and wire crate) for the bitch during her visit to the Stud. If such facilities are not available at the Stud owner’s home, arrangements should be made with a local veterinarian for boarding, at Stud owner’s expense. If possible, the breedings can then be conducted at the vet clinic/hospital, again, at the Stud owner’s expense.

3.        The breeding Bitch will be provided with normal, everyday care while residing with the Stud owner. This does not include special dietary concerns and extensive exercise regimes.

4.        Stud owner guarantees a minimum of three matings or “ties” between the Bitch and Stud.

5.        Stud owner will assume responsibility of the Bitch while in owner’s care, which includes cost of housing and feeding, or boarding, and any veterinarian visits necessary due to breeding or Stud dog owner negligence (eq. dog fight, injury during breeding, accidental tie by neighbor’s dog). Any genetic or pre-disposed tendencies (eq. bloat) will be the responsibility of both parties.

 Artificial Inseminations

   Bitch Owner Responsibilities

1.        Bitch owner must have ovulation timing tests performed on the Bitch to determine peak time for conception.

2.        Bitch owner must pay for AI kits for Stud Dog, which is usually two kits per breeding

3.       Bitch owner must notify the Stud owner when said Bitch begins her heat cycle, so a timely semen delivery and other arrangements can be made.  Please note that 48 hours after the initial collection, 50% of the sperm within the semen sample will be dead. Live sperm is no longer viable after 72 hours. Frozen sperm is not recommended as, at this time, it is not very reliable for actual conception.

4.       Bitch owner must have immediate, pre-arranged vet appointment set upon arrival of the semen shipment. The sooner a Bitch can be inseminated with the live sperm, the better the chances for a conception, and a healthy, live litter. Bitch should be inseminated twice within a 48-hour period.

5.       If the Bitch does not conceive upon the first insemination breeding, a second shipment will be sent. Costs incurred by both parties during this second procedure remain the same.

6.       If Bitch does not conceive with the second AI, a full reproductive exam must be conducted before additional semen will be shipped.

  Stud Dog Owner Responsibilities

1.        Stud Dog owner must have live semen tested upon collection for quantity, health, and motility.

2.        Stud owner must coordinate with Bitch owner to determine the Bitch’s peak time of conception to arrange for a viable semen collection.

3.        Stud owner must have pre-arranged appointment with her/his local vet to conduct semen collection.

4.        Stud owner is responsible for the expenses of the semen collection and overnight, or same-day, secured shipment to the Bitch owner. There will be two shipments per breeding that will be sent to the Bitch owner for insemination.

5.        If the first insemination does not take, the Stud owner will furnish additional sperm for a second breeding at no charge. Costs incurred for AI kits, collection, etc. by both parties will remain the same.

6.        Stud owner must send additional semen for third AI, providing that the breeding Bitch has had a clear reproductive exam. Additional arrangements may also be considered if the Stud and Bitch are not producing together. 

Any further agreement between the parties is set forth below:

This contract contains the entire agreement of both parties and shall be construed and enforced in accordance with the requirements of the ISSR and the laws of the local court systems. Both parties stipulate that there are no other agreements beyond those that are set forth in this document. If any legal action occurs, the prevailing party will be entitled to recover reasonable costs and attorney’s fees. Each party acknowledges that they have read and understood the terms and conditions of this ISSR Shiloh Shepherd™ Stud Contract and have voluntarily entered into and executed this agreement.
