Nutritional and Socialization Agreement
(Revised 09/07)

As a Nation in general, we are becoming more aware of the role good nutrition plays in our health and well being. Remember the old adage “you are what you eat.” The same chemicals and processing that can and have caused cancer and many other disorders in humans also plague our pets. All Shiloh Shepherds have been genetically programmed and are fully guaranteed to be sound of mind and body. This careful breeding program alone is not enough. The way your puppy matures both physically and mentally is also a result of his/her diet and environment. With this in mind a great deal of study and research has been undertaken by Shiloh Shepherd Breeders to help the new owner insure their puppy will reach his/her full genetic potential. The extensive guarantee you have received is, therefore, contingent on the following agreement.  Please take your responsibilities seriously.

1)       I agree to feed my puppy no less then three times a day until he/she reaches nine months of age, then I will feed him/her no less then two times a day for the remainder of his/her life.

2)       I agree NEVER to use a chemically preserved Dog Food. I will feed my puppy a naturally preserved Kibble. The following are foods approved by New Zion Kennels in the order of quality: (a) Eagle Pack (Large Breed Puppy, Natural, or Holistic), (b) Wysong, (c) Innova, (d) Precise, (e) Nature’s Recipe, (f) Natural Life, (g) Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy, (h) Diamond Professional/Large Breed Puppy, (I) Maximum Nutrition           Growth Formula, (j) California Natural, (k) Breeder’s Choice, (l) Flint River (m) Bright Life (adults only – over one year). Some of these foods are not available in all parts of the country and I am sure there are other equally good foods. Please consult your Breeder first, if you desire to feed a different brand so they may ascertain its quality. We also recommend that you join our forum and participate in the latest nutritional discussions.

**For additional up to date information we recommend that you visit www.greatdanelady.com

3)       I agree to feed my puppy RAW ground Turkey or Chicken in his/her meal, at a rate of no less than ¼ cup per feeding. (Please remove bowl and wash thoroughly after each feeding.)
Note: We use frozen turkey chubs that are safe and available in most supermarkets, not the freshly ground meat found in the regular meat sections.

4)       I agree to feed my puppy LOW FAT (preferably vanilla) yogurt, at the rate of a heaping tablespoon per day, or supplement with Fast Track, Benebax, or similar Probiotic products to help my puppy maintain good flora in his/her digestive tract.

5)      I agree NEVER to supplement with any calcium product, but to offer natural calcium, such as cottage cheese, in at least one feeding per day at the rate of two heaping tablespoons especially during the first three months.

6)     I agree to give my puppy Meta C (vitamin C supplement) or an approved Sodium Ascorbate at the recommended doses for the age of the puppy; it comes with a complete dose sheet. This can be ordered from Naturmix at (770)-781-8190. New Zion Shilohs has been using Nupro since 2001, and we have been very pleased with the results.

7)      I agree to give my puppy an approved supplement such as (a) N.R. Seaweed Mineral Food, (b) Solid Gold Sea meal, (c) Super Blue Green Algae, (d) Daily Greens, or any other approved supplement. We have discovered that some of our dogs will refuse to eat their food if Missing Link and other such “greens” have been added, due to the foul taste. Please ask for a sample of these products before making your final purchase.

8)      I agree to give my puppy some raw fresh fruits or vegetables during the day, such as carrots, celery, apples, etc. DO NOT FEED TOMATOES, GRAPES, RAISINS! Carrots make a very natural and nutritious chew toy.

9)      I agree to give my puppy at least 1-4 pieces of RAW (fresh or frozen - NEVER COOOKED!!!) chicken wings, ONLY after their adult teeth are in (approximately  six months of age) plus ground fresh (lean) beef, or organ meat such as liver/hearts, etc. 3-4 times per week for his/her entire life. I also agree to give at least one fresh raw beef bone (with marrow) once a week.

*Please keep in mind that FAT is very detrimental to our dogs and can lead to mild EPI and other problems. Maintaining a proper balance (by adding low fat yogurt, cottage cheese, and raw meats) to his diet you could be extending your dog's life by several years!!

10)     I agree my puppy will not get any kind of grease (especially bacon), raw egg whites, pork, small cut beef bones, any cooked bones (cooking is what makes bones brittle and can  cause choking and other serious damage to your puppy), or chocolate, or sugary or starchy foods. I will always check with my breeder before feeding any foods or supplements not listed. If in doubt, please print out this list!

11)     I agree to provide my puppy with a supply of fresh water at all times, and will not give any other beverage without the consent of my breeder.

12)     I agree to keep all receipts available to prove I have followed these guidelines. Furthermore, I agree to provide my puppy with regular vet visits and stool checks to assure that my puppy is parasite free.

13)     I agree to take my puppy to puppy kindergarten. If kindergarten is not available, I agree to take my puppy on frequent outings where he/she will be exposed to other people, animals, and situations. I understand that failure to give my puppy this exposure could result in shyness, or damage his/her ability to socialize properly with people as well as other animals.

14)     I agree to continue PROPER socialization as my puppy gets older through, participation in shows, obedience classes, and/or continued outings in public places (parks, the mall, etc.). I also agree to educate myself regarding the various aspects involved in my puppy’s inherited behavior traits, so that I can help him to attain his full potential. We would also like to encourage everyone to take advantage of our free STM forum, where you can ask questions and read advice  posted by some of the most highly respected trainers!

I/We _________________________ hereby agree to abide and follow all the guidelines for my puppy’s feeding and socialization program for its entire life. I understand the importance of these strict guidelines for the proper development of my Shiloh Shepherd. I understand to keep my dog in ultimate condition through this worming, vaccination, and feeding program. I understand that failure to abide and follow all guidelines, #1-14 of this Nutritional Agreement (revised 09/07) or reach an alternative that is agreed upon by both (myself) and (Tina and Lisa Barber), will automatically dissolve my guarantee making it null and void.
