January 2022
I know it's been a while since my last update. There are a few reasons for that, foremost being there has been no activitiy with the dogs. The ladies have been taking a break and have delayed coming into heat beyond my expectations. Zena was the first, coming into heat in October and we are happy to announce that The Zena/Smokey litter was born on December 28th out in Colorado. There are 6 puppies, 2 females and 4 males. This is a co-owned litter with Pike's Peak Shilohs. As there are so many waiting for Shiloh puppies and there have been few litters as of late, we want to let you know that as of right now, all of these puppies are spoken for. The LER and litter placement will take place on February 26th when I will travel to Colorado to do the evaluation. Once we have the evaluation results on each puppy, we will decide how to place them.
As you can see, breeding is not an exact science. We have to rely heavily on the unpredictable heat cycles of our females. Once a female goes into heat, we wait for the perfect time to breed. Thirty days after the breeding we do an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy. If pregnancy is confirmed we follow up with an x-ray a week before the projected birth date to get a puppy count, then wait again for puppies to be born. When the puppies are 8 weeks old we do a Litter Evaluation (LER) and that's when we finalize placment of the puppies for their new homes. Although this would be the perfect scenario, lots of things out of our control can go wrong during the breeding and birthing process - but we do our best. So thank you for understanding as you wait for your perfect Shiloh puppy. I guarantee you it will be worth your wait!
Lastly, I had some sad news this December over Christmas. I had placed Mia in a foster home close by, back in September. She was doing really well, however, over the Christmas weekend when the family she was with had lots of visitors coming and going, she managed to get into the street and unfortunately, got hit by a car and was killed instantly. The family and I are devastated to lose this magnificent girl.

- Aspen has recently come into heat and will be ready to be bred in the next week or so to Brisco. If all goes well, the puppies should arrive in mid-March, and they will be ready to go to their new homes at least 8 weeks after that.
- Lea is showing signs now that she is coming into heat, so we will hopefully be breeding her with Logan by the end of January.
- Iris did come into heat back in October and we did breed her to Judge, but it didn't take. We will have to wait until she comes back into heat again hopefully in April, and we will be breeding her with Cutter.
- I have two co-owns that we are expecting to breed in March. One is Gracie, out in Nebraska, we are planning to breed her to Brisco and are hoping for some white puppies. The other one is her sister Echo, in Missouri, who we are also planning to breed with Brisco. Fingers crossed that these breedings take.
- Another breeding I hope to have happen this year is with Ember and Logan. Ember is a female I kept from my Topaz/Judge litter.

September 2021
Since this is my first update it will be a little longer as I will try to bring you up to speed as to what has been happening this year at New Zion.
The start of 2021 was great with the addition of some awesome litters: Angel/Brisco, Iris/Crush, Jazzy/Brisco, and Aspen/Ruckus.
As many of you already know, our lives got hit hard with the loss of my oldest son, Josh, in April. It has been extremely difficult dealing with his loss. I would like to thank everyone who has been supportive to my family during this devastating time.
We were hit again in May with the devastating sudden death of Crusher. We had such huge plans for him, and are just beside ourselves. All we know is that after a fun day of playing outside with the kids, Crush came in to relax before dinner. At feeding time the kids noticed that he was sleeping and went to wake him up, and only then did they discover he had actually passed away. We were shocked! As nothing was immediately obvious as the cause, the kids checked the yard to see if there was something he could have gotten into out there, but found nothing. We are greatly saddened by his loss, Crush had a great temperament and was loved by everyone who met him. Crush was just 2 years old and had just sired his first litter. We are so thankful to have the amazing Iris/Crush litter.
June and July were pretty quiet, just enjoying spending time with our dogs and taking them out and about town while waiting for the girls to come into heat. During this time, I was struggling health-wise, and was trying to get everything ready for Homecoming in August.
In early August, due to Covid, we unfortunately had to make the hard decision to cancel Homecoming. Then, on another sad note, my mother-in-law passed away. It has certainly been a rollercoaster ride.
I would like to update everyone on the Jazzy/Ruckus breeding. I sent Jazzy down to PA in July as she was soon due to come into heat. At the end of August I asked for my normal update on how Jazzy was doing and if she had come in to heat yet. I was informed at that time by Ruckus' owner that she was keeping Jazzy and had possibly rehomed her. We were quite shocked at this development, and I am trying to figure out how to get her back. If you were waiting for puppy from this breeding, please private message me and we will talk about your options.
Now some happy news! We have looked around for a new Homecoming spot, which we will announce at a later date.
As winter approaches we are just waiting for our girls to come in to heat. I will utilize this page to keep everyone up to date as the girls come in to heat, are bred, and have their puppies. Specific litter updates will be posted on our Upcoming Litters page.
I am excited to have this page for everyone to be able to keep up with what is going on at New Zion. It will help me get news to you a lot quicker.
I would also like to let everyone know that for personal reasons Madi isn't as involved in the club and kennel duties as she was in the past. We would ask those of you who have been used to contacting her for information about the kennel to please use this News site or contact me.
